Gothic style: Where Shadows Meet Sass – with Uniquely You
Welcome to the realm where black isn’t just a colour—it’s a lifestyle. Gothic and alternative fashion isn’t for the faint of heart or the fashionably predictable. It’s for those who moonlight as walking pieces of art. Imagine Victorian ghosts raiding punk closets, tossing in a splash of steampunk, and finishing off with lipstick so dark it could summon a raven. From combat boots that could survive the apocalypse to velvet capes that scream “drama,” every piece tells a story—usually one with thunder, poetry, and a suspicious lack of daylight. This is style with bite, beauty with edge, and rebellion stitched into every seam.
And that’s where Uniquely You comes in. Your personal stylist for the shadows and beyond, helping you craft a look that’s unmistakably you. Whether you’re channeling vampy elegance, industrial edge, or whimsical darkness, we tailor your aesthetic to match the mood you want to manifest. No cookie-cutter fits—just bold, brazen individuality brought to life with accessories that whisper secrets and silhouettes that shout self-expression.

What is a colour analysis consultation?
During a colour analysis consultation you can expect the following steps either in person or online: Initial Assessment:
- A skin tone evaluation by a colour analysis consultant is a process used to determine which colours best complement your natural complexion. It typically involves assessing your skin undertones (cool, warm, or neutral) using coloured drapes or digital tools.
- Eye and Hair colour analysis– Your eyes and hair colour are considered to determine your overall colour palette.
Draping process
- Colour Draping– The stylist will use a series of coloured drapes placed near your face to observe how different colours affect your complexion. This helps to identify which colours make you look your best. For online consultations, the stylist uses the Image Innovators Colour Analysis Program. Once completed, the results will be discussed with the client.
Personalized Colour Palette
- Colour Palette Creation– Clients receive a portable colour swatch to assist them when selecting clothing and accessories, along with an e-guide detailing the shades that complement their complexion and tips on how to incorporate them into their wardrobe.
Benefits
- A colour analysis enhances your appearance-Skin will look healthier, eyes brighter and your overall appearance more vibrant.
- Enhance your confidence and simplify the shopping experience with effortlessly stylish choices in clothing and accessories.
- Streamlined wardrobe-A cohesive colour palette helps build a versatile and harmonious wardrobe.
What is Gothic and Alternative Styling?
Gothic and alternative styling is all about embracing individuality and expressing a unique aesthetic that often contrasts with mainstream fashion. Gothic fashion originated in the late 70s and early 80s, influenced by post-punk and darkwave music. It typically features dark colours, lace, leather, dramatic makeup, and Victorian or medieval-inspired elements.
Alternative styling, on the other hand, is a broader term that encompasses various subcultures, including punk, grunge, emo, cyber-goth and many more, too many to mention here. It’s all about breaking conventional fashion norms and incorporating edgy, rebellious, or unconventional elements into personal style.
